After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Draughn, Madison was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They had just enough and edged the Avery County Vikings out 3-2. The win was some much needed relief for the Patriots as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Madison was staring down a 2-1 deficit headed into the fourth set, but they rallied to take the next two for the win. The match finished with set scores of 15-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 16-14.

Madison was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 12 consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Madison's victory bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Avery County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.
