Baseball Recap: New Brockton Gamecocks vs. Geneva County Bulldogs
While New Brockton's victory against Geneva County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Gamecocks narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Bulldogs 8-6. The Gamecocks haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Griffin Wood looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Hayden Pope was excellent, scoring a run and stealing three bases while going 2-for-2. New Brockton is 6-1 when Pope posts two or more stolen bases, but 6-9 otherwise. Will Adkison also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
New Brockton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Geneva County only managed six hits.
New Brockton's win bumped their record up to 12-10. As for Geneva County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Brockton will square off against Pike County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Geneva County, they will head out to take on Houston County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
