Basketball Recap: Sandy Creek Cougars vs. Nebraska Christian Eagles
You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely the Sandy Creek Cougars's strategy against the Nebraska Christian Eagles on Friday. Sandy Creek blew past the Eagles 49-27. Given Sandy Creek's advantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 52nd, while the Eagles are ranked 257th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sandy Creek found their leader in underclassman Oliver Oglesby, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Oglesby is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last eight games he's played. Another player making a difference was Owen Oglesby, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Nebraska Christian struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Sandy Creek racked up 11 assists.
Sandy Creek has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. As for Nebraska Christian, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
Sandy Creek will be playing in front of their home fans against the Jeffs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Fairbury focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 on Monday. As for Nebraska Christian, they will head out on the road to challenge the Huskies at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
