4A Region 1 recap Oct. 30, 2012
Itawamba Agricultural extended the longest winning streak in 4A Region 1 this week by beating Tishomingo County, 62-14. The victory was the 10th in a row for the team.
Corinth and Shannon played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Corinth eventually emerging with a 20-14 victory.
Tyler Dossett put up the best numbers through the air as Itawamba Agricultural topped the Braves. He finished with eight completions for 127 yards and three touchdowns. Dossett's favorite target this week was Ashton Shumpert, who caught three passes for 55 yards.
Jon David Poss provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Amory beat Pontotoc. He completed 14 passes for 226 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 45 yards. Poss' favorite target this week was Dario Robinson, who caught eight passes for 164 yards.
Diamante Pounds was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 164 yards on 18 carries as the Red Raiders defeated the Warriors. Teammate Devan Gilleylen added to the ground attack by rushing for 45 yards.
Amory's Poss and Devin McIntosh have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A Region 1 in both passing and receiving yards. Poss has thrown for 2358 yards this season, while McIntosh, a 6-foot-1 receiver, has 38 catches for 794 yards. Shannon's Pounds leads the league in rushing yards with 1475.
