Baseball Recap: Friday's Loss Ends Toledo's Winning Streak

Toledo fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Reedsport on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of Reedsport by a score of 9-7. The Boomers' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Connor Mason put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. That's the fewest earned runs he has allowed since back in March. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Toledo: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 5-6 otherwise.

In other batting news, Kolby Coxen was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

Toledo's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Reedsport, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-1.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Toledo will face off against rival Myrtle Point at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Reedsport is set to take on their familiar foe Eddyville at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
