Basketball Recap: Alleghany's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Floyd County came into Wednesday's matchup looking for another win against Alleghany, but Bryce Leitch wouldn't allow it. The Alleghany Cougars sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 45-42 win over the Floyd County Buffaloes on Wednesday thanks in part to Leitch, who went 8 of 16 on her way to 26 points and five steals. That makes it 11 consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Alleghany's points.

Another player making a difference was Kayden Jack, who posted two points and four steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played.

The victory (which was Alleghany's fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.0 points per game. As for Floyd County, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alleghany will square off against Carroll County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Alleghany is facing Carroll County at the right time seeing as Carroll County is stuck on a 13-game losing streak. As for Floyd County, they will challenge Spotswood at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
