Baseball Recap: Lincoln Beats Live Oak for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Lincoln waltzed into their contest on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They blew past the Live Oak Acorns 9-1. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matches by six runs or more this season.

Jayden Peters spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lorenzo Collazo, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ryan Bernwanger, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Lincoln always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Live Oak only posted an OBP of .269.

Lincoln pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Live Oak, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lincoln will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Gilroy at 4:00 p.m. on the 15th. As for Live Oak, they will host Hill at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
