Football Recap: Madison County Takes a Loss

The matchup between Madison County and Ardmore on Friday hardly resembled the 23-0 effort from their previous meeting. Madison County lost 41-20 to Ardmore. If Madison County was looking for revenge after losing 23-0 to Ardmore when the teams met back in September of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the defeat, Madison County saw an underclassman step up: freshman Cayden Owen rushed for 117 yards and a pair of TDs on only nine carries. Owen really tore up the turf during one magnificent 86-yard run. Ryan Putman also deserves some recognition as he hauled in his first receiving touchdown of the season.

Madison County has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Ardmore, they moved to 3-3 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

Coming up, Madison County will take on Plainview at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will need to watch out since the Bears have now posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups. As for Ardmore, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Lawrence County at 7:00 p.m. on the 10th.
