Baseball Recap: Schaumburg Takes a Loss

Schaumburg had lost six straight at home, but on Thursday they dropped their record down to 9-23 to make it seven. They came up short against the Buffalo Grove Bison, falling 6-0. The Saxons were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bison earlier this season, when they won 5-4.

As for Buffalo Grove, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-21-2. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games.

For Buffalo Grove's part, the team relied heavily on Hanson Joey, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. What's more, Joey posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Lee, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Schaumburg and Buffalo Grove could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings. The Saxons will take on Evergreen Park at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday with a big rank disadvantage (327 vs. 140). Meanwhile, Buffalo Grove (ranked 274th) will meet Fremd (ranked ninth) at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
