Football Recap: Soddy Daisy Comes Up Short

Soddy Daisy dropped to 3-2 on Friday, ending the team's five-game streak of wins on the road dating back to last season. They were dealt a 48-7 loss at the hands of the McMinn County Cherokees. The game marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Luke Dodd threw for 68 yards on four of nine attempts. Elijah Waters was his top target, picking up 57 receiving yards. On the ground, Logan Alexander rushed for 63 yards and one score.

As for McMinn County, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1. The matchup marked their most dominant victory of the season so far.

McMinn County was led to victory by Luke Lawson and Jakaryn Dyer. Lawson threw for 246 yards and three TDs while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt, while Dyer rushed for 156 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 14 carries. Dyer has been hot recently, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last four times he's played.

Soddy Daisy didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 35-7 defeat against Walker Valley on the 26th. As for McMinn County, they have also already played their next game, a 61-6 win against Ooltewah on the 26th.
