Softball Recap: Valders' Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Thursday

Valders dropped their record down to 15-6 on Thursday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Chilton Tigers by a score of 1-0. The shutout was out of character for the Vikings seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in April.

Megan Hochkammer spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than nine strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

As for Chilton, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.4 runs over those games.

On Chilton's side, the result came thanks to Lauren Roehrig's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up 11 Ks. With that strong performance, Roehrig is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game.

Coming up, Valders will venture away from home to take on Algoma at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Chilton, they will welcome Oakfield at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
