Preview: Calhoun Academy Cavaliers vs. Orangeburg Prep Indians
The Calhoun Academy Cavaliers will be playing at home against the Orangeburg Prep Indians at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Calhoun Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 65-50 bruising from Andrew Jackson Academy.
The losing side was boosted by Chase Strickland, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 12 rebounds. Connor Hayes was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Even though they lost, Calhoun Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Andrew Jackson Academy only racked up 11 assists.
Meanwhile, Orangeburg Prep pushed their score all the way to 61 last Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 69-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of Northside Christian Academy. Orangeburg Prep has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Calhoun Academy's loss dropped their record down to 11-6. As for Orangeburg Prep, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season.
Calhoun Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Orangeburg Prep in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 56-52 victory. Will Calhoun Academy repeat their success, or does Orangeburg Prep have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
