Football Game Preview: Hialeah Thoroughbreds vs. Hialeah Gardens Gladiators

Hialeah is 0-3 against Hialeah Gardens since April of 2021 but things could change on Wednesday. The Hialeah Thoroughbreds will venture away from home to face off against the Hialeah Gardens Gladiators at 3:30 p.m. The two teams have allowed few points on average, (Hialeah 12.9, Hialeah Gardens 6.9) so any points scored will be well earned.

Hialeah is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Thursday. They took a hard 25-6 fall against Coral Gables.

Meanwhile, Hialeah Gardens waltzed into their match on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They took down the Bulldogs 20-6. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Gladiators' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida football rankings (they are ranked 102nd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 24th).

Hialeah better keep an eye on Isabelle Castrillo. She was instrumental in Hialeah Gardens' win, throwing for 196 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 51 yards. The dominant performance gave Castrillo a new career-high in passing yards.

Hialeah Gardens didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Carolyn Lebroc. Lebroc is also crushing it when it comes to total tackles: she's made at least five every time she's taken the field this season.

Hialeah Gardens' record is now 6-3. As for Hialeah, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Hialeah couldn't quite get it done against Hialeah Gardens when the teams last played back in March of 2023 as they fell 14-7. Can Hialeah avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
