Recap: Franklin Central Flashes vs. Lawrence North Wildcats

After a string of five wins, the Franklin Central Flashes's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They were the victim of a rough 78-53 loss at the hands of Lawrence North. While losing is never fun, Franklin Central can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while Lawrence North is ranked third).

Franklin Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was EJ Hazelett, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Josh Moriarty, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.

As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. Kai Mcgrew was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.

Franklin Central's defeat dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Lawrence North, their win was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin Central will take on Noblesville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Noblesville knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past four games -- so hopefully Franklin Central likes a good challenge. Lawrence North's road trip will continue as they head out to face North Central at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th.
