Softball Recap: Fitzgerald Snags Tenth Victory in Last 13 Games

Fitzgerald lost to Clintondale back in May of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Spartans blew past the Dragons 17-1. Considering the Spartans have won 12 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

CaSaundra Smith was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Briana Parsons, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Fitzgerald was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.

Fitzgerald is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Clintondale, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Fitzgerald will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Dragons: the pair will be back at it again later today.
