Volleyball Recap: NorthWood Panthers vs. East Noble Knights
NorthWood unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-court advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of the East Noble Knights by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Knights apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in August of 2020.
NorthWood actually scored more points across those five sets (100-93), but sadly they still had to settle for second. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-15, 7-25, 19-25, 15-10.
Rylee Johnson paced NorthWood's offense, picking up 11 kills. Johnson got some help from Emily Uhlmann and her 36 assists. Uhlmann was also solid from the service line: she led the team with seven aces.
East Noble got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alyssa Desper out in front who had nine digs and four aces. The dominant performance also gave Desper a new career-high in assists (26). Another player making a difference was Kylie Walz, who had 16 digs and four assists.
The victory got East Noble back to even at 1-1.
NorthWood wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-0 defeat against Penn on the 19th. As for East Noble, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Carroll at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
