Recap: South Brunswick Vikings vs. Marlboro Mustangs
Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but unfortunately for The South Brunswick Vikings, they weren't the ones who walked away with it. They fell 26-16 to Marlboro on Saturday. While losing is never fun, South Brunswick can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 142nd, while Marlboro is ranked 49th).
When it comes to explaining why South Brunswick lost, one person who can't be blamed is Braden Paulmenn. Despite the final result, he rushed for 70 yards and two touchdowns.
Marlboro can attribute much of their success to Matthew Cassidy, who rushed for 129 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.1 yards per carry.
South Brunswick has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-5 record this season. As for Marlboro, their win bumped their record up to 8-3.
South Brunswick does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Marlboro will square off against Hillsborough at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
