Football Recap: Mitchell Comes Up Short

If Mitchell was riding high fresh off their 49-6 takedown of Trezevant two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Tigers had to suffer through a 44-6 loss at the hands of the Fairley Bulldogs. The defeat continues a trend for the Tigers in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost eight in a row.

Even if they lost, Mitchell's defensive line still kept up the pressure with 3.1 sacks. The team can thank two different players for their defensive prowess: Thomas Wright and Caleve Guy, who each picked up one sack apiece. Kevonta Rodgers got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Mitchell's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Fairley, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Mitchell has already played their next game, a 44-0 win against Sheffield on the 30th. As for Fairley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 20-0 victory against Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering on the 31st.
