Volleyball Recap: Meridian Hawks vs. Decatur Eisenhower Panthers
Meridian was the 2-0 winner over Decatur Eisenhower when they last played one another back in September of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Hawks fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 2-1 on Monday. While the Hawks didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 25-19 in the first set.
Meridian started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last two. The match finished with set scores of 19-25, 25-23, 25-16.
Alyssa Meisenhelter paced Meridian's offense, picking up 13 kills. Meisenhelter got some help from Gigi Pramuk and her 17 assists. Pramuk also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Alayna Bickel, racking up two apiece.
Meridian dropped their record down to 9-12 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Decatur Eisenhower, they moved to 4-18 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meridian will challenge Clinton at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Decatur Eisenhower, they will square off against Normal University at 7:00 p.m. on the 30th.
