Basketball Recap: Anthony Brown's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Boca Ciega over Oviedo

If Boca Ciega was feeling good fresh off their 62-22 takedown of Bayshore last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Pirates fell 76-67 to the Oviedo Lions on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (62), the Pirates still had to take the loss.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Anthony Brown, who posted 23 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. The matchup was Brown's third in a row with at least 19 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Keshawn Andrews, who went 8-for-13 on his way to 21 points and seven boards.

Having lost for the first time this season, Boca Ciega fell to 2-1. As for Oviedo, the win made it two in a row for them and also bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Boca Ciega wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 73-64 victory against Leesburg on the 29th. As for Oviedo, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Lake Howell at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions will need to watch out since the Silverhawks have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
