Sycamore and Ottawa are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2021, but not for long. The Spartans will host the Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Sycamore and five for Ottawa.

On Tuesday, Sycamore didn't have quite enough to beat Kaneland and fell 2-1.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Sycamore sadly dropped the once that decided the match. The final score came out to 25-15, 16-25, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Ottawa came up short against LaSalle-Peru on Tuesday and fell 2-0.

Ottawa was the model of consistency in the loss, scoring 18 points in every single set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 25-18.

Ottawa's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12-2. As for Sycamore, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.

Sycamore couldn't quite get it done against Ottawa in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 as they fell 2-0. Can the Spartans avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
