Basketball Recap: Ocean Lakes Comes Up Short

Ocean Lakes was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their 17th straight defeat dating back to last season. They were beaten by the First Colonial Patriots 83-53. The Dolphins were probably out for revenge after losing 47-37 to them when the teams met back in February, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Despite the loss, Ocean Lakes had strong showings from Chase Mullen, who dropped a double-double on 16 rebounds and 13 blocks, and Avery Gentry, who went 8 of 11 on his way to 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trey Green, who went 5 for 10 on his way to 11 points.

Ocean Lakes' defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for First Colonial, their victory ended an 11-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-1.

Ocean Lakes didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 59-40 loss against Tallwood on the 10th. First Colonial has also already played their next contest, an 86-66 win against Hickory on the 9th.
