Basketball Recap: Wendover Takes a Loss

Wendover lost against Rich back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The matchup between the Wendover Wildcats and the Rich Rebels didn't end well, with the Wendover Wildcats falling 58-44. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 120th, while the Rebels are ranked 33rd).

Rich's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Braylyn Pugmire, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 boards. What's more, Pugmire also racked up two blocks, the most she's had since back in February of 2024. Molly Weston was another key player, going 7 of 13 from beyond the arc en route to 25 points in addition to five rebounds and five steals.

Wendover has been struggling recently as they've lost 12 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-16 record this season. As for Rich, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with the win, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season.

Wendover will host Altamont at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Rich, they will head out to square off against Big Piney at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rich is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.1 points per game this season.
