Basketball Recap: Victory Christian Academy's Winning Streak Snapped at Eight Games

After a string of eight wins, Victory Christian Academy's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 79-71 to the Veritas Collegiate Academy Spartans. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Spartans apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2021.

Despite the loss, Victory Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Gavin Whitaker, who posted 36 points. The game was Whitaker's tenth in a row with at least 21 points. Another player making a difference was Carter Herrold, who scored 12 points.

Veritas Collegiate Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marcqell Freeman, who shot 63% from the field to rack up 31 points and six boards. What's more, Freeman also posted an 80% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in December of 2024. Falcon Green was another key player, going 7-for-13 en route to 23 points in addition to six assists and six rebounds.

Victory Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 22-9. As for Veritas Collegiate Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won 15 of their last 19 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 26-10 record this season.
