Goddard won the last time they faced Artesia and things went their way on Friday too. The Goddard Rockets escaped with a win against the Artesia Bulldogs by the margin of a single free throw, 49-48.

Goddard's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aubrie Bolanos, who went 5 of 9 on her way to 13 points and five boards. What's more, Bolanos also posted a 75% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's posted since back in December of 2024. Jazmin De Leon was another key player, going 5 for 8 en route to 11 points and five steals.

Goddard smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in seven consecutive matchups.

Goddard's victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 13-10. As for Artesia, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Goddard will welcome Portales at 5:30 p.m. on February 14th. Portales has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Artesia, they will be playing at home against Lovington at 5:30 p.m. on February 14th.
