Baseball Recap: Dunmore Comes Up Short

Dunmore dropped down to 7-5 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins. They came up short against the Pittston Patriots, falling 12-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Patriots this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 10-5 back in March.

Evan Mizenko made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

As for Pittston, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games.

On Pittston's side, the team relied heavily on Jacoby Harnen, who fired off two home runs while going 3-for-4. Those two home runs gave Harnen a new career-high. Josh Barr was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Dunmore and Pittston should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. The Bucks will challenge Holy Cross at 4:30 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (135 vs. 600). Meanwhile, Pittston (ranked ninth) will meet Crestwood (ranked 302nd) at 4:15 p.m. on Monday.
