Basketball Game Preview: Carnegie Wildcats vs. Blair Broncos

The Carnegie Wildcats will face off against the Blair Broncos at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Carnegie took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They escaped with a win against Epic Charter by the margin of a single free throw, 55-54. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Comments: they've now won three in a row.

Duane Cavaness was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 11 to rack up 21 points and six boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Jerin Thompson was another key player, going 7 for 11 on his way to 16 points and five rebounds.

Carnegie smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Blair earned a 46-39 victory over Grandfield on Friday.

Carnegie's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-10. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.3 points over those games. As for Blair, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-10.
