League recap: West Limestone extends winning streak with victory over Priceville

4A Region 8 recap October 22, 2013

West Limestone added to the longest winning streak in 4A Region 8 this week by beating Priceville, 49-33. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.

West Limestone led the league in scoring this week by notching 49 points on the Bulldogs.

Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Haleyville's Blake Wilkes and Jonas Dodd have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-3 quarterback Wilkes has thrown for 752 yards this season, while Dodd has 9 catches for 216 yards. Dillon Miller from David Arnsparger's team leads the league in rushing with 692 yards.

The top two teams in 4A Region 8 will face off this week when first place Haleyville takes on second place West Limestone. The Lions topped Rogers last week, while the Wildcats bested Priceville.

Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when Haleyville's Dodd goes up against West Limestone's Reyer.

Next week's game between Mark Heaton's team and the Wildcats will feature a good passing match up as Wilkes will test his arm against Reyer's defensive ability.

There should be lots of points scored when West Limestone and the Lions face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Wildcats comes in having scored 192 this season, while Haleyville has scored 142. West Limestone scored 49 points last week as it defeated Donald Weeks' team.
