Baseball Game Preview: Metamora Redbirds vs. Moline Maroons

The Metamora Redbirds will venture away from home to face off against the Moline Maroons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

Metamora blew Canton out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday Canton got their revenge. The Redbirds fell just short of the Little Giants by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Redbirds have suffered against the Little Giants since May 26, 2021.

Cole Smith was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Mason Sauder was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and one run.

Meanwhile, Moline got themselves on the board against Quincy on Wednesday, but Quincy never followed suit. They walked away with a 3-0 victory over the Blue Devils. The Maroons haven't had any issues with the Blue Devils recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Metamora has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Moline, their victory bumped their record up to 11-8.

Metamora skirted past Moline 2-1 in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Do the Redbirds have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Maroons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
