Preview: Mercer Mustangs vs. Shenango Wildcats
The Mercer Mustangs will be playing at home against the Shenango Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday. One thing working in Mercer's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last nine matchups.
Mercer pushed their score all the way to 62 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Farrell by a score of 65-62. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Mercer in their matchups with Farrell: they've now lost five in a row.
Shenango posted their closest win yet this season on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-48 victory over Sewickley Academy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Shenango.
Mercer's loss ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-3. As for Shenango, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with that victory, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Mercer lost to Shenango at home by a decisive 67-52 margin in their previous meeting back in December of 2016. Can Mercer avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
