Baseball Game Preview: Salinas Cowboys vs. Monterey Dores

For the second straight game, Salinas will face off against Monterey. The Cowboys will be playing at home against the Dores at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Salinas fell victim to Monterey and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Dores by a score of 2-0. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

For Monterey's part, not much got past Luke Miramontes, who gave up just five hits to keep Salinas off the board. Miramontes also tossed a walk, which is notable because the Dores are 2-1 when he allows at most one walk, but 5-11 otherwise.

At the plate, Monterey saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Johnny Money, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.

Monterey's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-12. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.4 runs across that stretch. As for Salinas, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
