Hayden hadn't done well against Emporia recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. The Wildcats came out on top against the Spartans by a score of 2-0. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.

Hayden got the W, but it wasn't easy, at least in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 30-28, 25-17.

Hailey Schmidtlein paced Hayden's offense, picking up nine kills. Schmidtlein got some help from Blakely Walter and her 22 assists. Walter was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Hayden's record is now 20-6. As for Emporia, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-10.

Coming up, Hayden will head out to take on Saint Thomas Aquinas on Thursday. As for Emporia, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 2-0 loss against Washburn Rural on the 4th.
