Basketball Game Preview: Moore Catholic Mavericks vs. Cardinal Spellman The Pilots

The Moore Catholic Mavericks will venture away from home to take on the Cardinal Spellman The Pilots at 1:45 p.m. on Saturday. Moore Catholic will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Last Wednesday, Moore Catholic beat Notre Dame Academy 56-47. Given the Mavericks' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while the Gators are ranked 114th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Brianna Caliri, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Emma Bruno-Dunn, who posted 14 points in addition to six boards and three blocks.

Meanwhile, Cardinal Spellman ended up a good deal behind Kennedy Catholic on Wednesday and lost 50-35. The The Pilots have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Cardinal Spellman's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-3. As for Moore Catholic, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-1.
