Basketball Game Preview: College Park Cavaliers vs. Cypress Springs Panthers

The College Park Cavaliers will square off against the Cypress Springs Panthers on Thursday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

College Park is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They snuck past Westfield with a 48-42 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cavaliers.

Meanwhile, Cypress Springs came tearing into Monday's contest with 23 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 36 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 83-35 win over the Wildcats. The Panthers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 20 games by 20 points or more this season.

College Park better focus on containing Ayla Mcdowell and Jemini Mitchell as the pair were huge in Cypress Springs' win. Mcdowell went 11 for 17 to rack up 27 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Mitchell went 10 of 15 on her way to 24 points. Mcdowell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 19 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Melanie Hodges, who almost dropped a double-double with 11 points and nine boards.

Cypress Springs smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 19 consecutive matchups.

College Park pushed their record up to 20-11 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.0 points over those games. As for Cypress Springs, their record is now 28-3.
