Softball Game Preview: Jac-Cen-Del Eagles vs. Southwestern Rebels

The Jac-Cen-Del Eagles will square off against the Southwestern Rebels at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jac-Cen-Del is looking for their season's first victory.

Monday just wasn't the day for Jac-Cen-Del's offense. They lost 13-0 to Rising Sun on Monday.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Southwestern, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Jac-Cen-Del on Wednesday, sneaking past 9-8. The win continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now won six in a row.

Chloey Leach spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and seven unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Nataley Morrison was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Crawford, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Southwestern kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Southwestern's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 7-4. As for Jac-Cen-Del, their loss dropped their record down to 0-10.
