Baseball Game Preview: Copan Hornets vs. Barnsdall Panthers

Copan hasn't had much luck against Barnsdall recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Hornets will be playing in front of their home fans against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Copan will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Copan's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past Welch 12-0. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Zander Street was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zane Stricklin, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Peyton Call was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Copan kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Barnsdall challenged Woodland on Tuesday. Neither the Panthers nor the Cougars could gain the upper hand so the two teams had to settle for an 8-8 draw.

Copan's victory bumped their record up to 14-6. Barnsdall's tie makes their record 13-10-1 this season.
