Baseball Game Recap: Woodside Wolverines vs. Kecoughtan Warriors

Woodside extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping their season record down to 6-13 in the process. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 9-4 to the Kecoughtan Warriors, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, with their most recent defeat being a 9-4 loss on Saturday.

As for Kecoughtan, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-12 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Kecoughtan's part, they got a great performance from Brayden Fields as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over 5.2 innings pitched. Fields has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Aiden Bain was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Kecoughtan is 3-1 when Bain posts two or more stolen bases, but 3-11 otherwise. Conner Lee was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Looking ahead, Woodside will welcome York at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Kecoughtan, they will challenge Heritage at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
