Baseball Recap: Windermere Prep Finds Home Field Redemption Against Oak Ridge

There's no place like home for Windermere Prep, who bounced back after a loss on the road two weeks ago. They never let the Oak Ridge Pioneers get on the board and left with an 18-0 win on Wednesday. Considering the Lakers have won four contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Luke Slattery looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. That one hit allowed gave him a new career-low.

At the plate, Windermere Prep got a massive performance out of Peyton Hollern, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Hollern is becoming a predictor of Windermere Prep's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-8 when he doesn't). Patrick Mattern also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Windermere Prep hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Windermere Prep's record is now 5-8. As for Oak Ridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.

Windermere Prep will be playing at home against Belleview at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Oak Ridge, they will challenge Jones at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
