Baseball Recap: Choctaw County Takes Down Independence in a Playoff Battle

With a playoff win on the line, Choctaw County rose to the challenge on Saturday. They beat the Independence Wildcats by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 12-1. The Chargers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 matches by six runs or more this season.

Choctaw County is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Independence, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 18-12.

Choctaw County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
