Softball Recap: Childersburg Beats Vincent for Their Third Straight Victory

Childersburg barely beat Vincent the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 14-2 margin over the Yellow Jackets on Friday. The victory was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won three matches in a row.

Madison Brooks made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, firing off two home runs while going 2-for-5. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Lexie Smith and Taraji Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Smith fired off two home runs, six RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-5, while Jones went 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those six RBI gave Smith a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Giovanna Guerrero, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one RBI.

Childersburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .462. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .345 or higher in four consecutive contests.

The win got Childersburg back to even at 13-13. As for Vincent, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Childersburg will square off against Thorsby at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Vincent, they will take on Southeastern at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
