Volleyball Game Preview: Copley Indians vs. Whitmer Panthers

After both having extra time off, the Copley Indians and the Whitmer Panthers will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a three-game winning streak alive.

Revere came into Thursday's match looking for another win against Copley, but Jayli Owens wouldn't allow it. The Indians came out on top against the Minutemen by a score of 3-1 last Thursday thanks in part to Owens, who had 18 digs and five assists. She is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last nine games she's played.

Copley had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 24-26, 25-17, 25-19, 25-23.

Whitmer won the last time they faced Springfield and Taylor Brown did her part to make sure it happened again. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Blue Devils two weeks ago with plenty of help from Brown, who had 12 digs and ten aces. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 aces per game.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Whitmer took every set by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-13, 25-8, 25-15.

Copley's victory bumped their record up to 15-7. As for Whitmer, their win bumped their record up to 13-9.
