Softball Game Preview: Ragland Purple Devils vs. Gadsden City Titans

The Ragland Purple Devils will face off against the Gadsden City Titans at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ragland will be strutting in after a victory while Gadsden City will be coming in after a defeat.

Ragland is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Jefferson Christian Academy on Tuesday as Ragland made off with a 15-0 win. The Purple Devils not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 29, 2024.

Anna Burnham was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in RBI. Avery Franklin was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Ragland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .690. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Gadsden City lost 11-2 to Fort Payne on Friday. The Titans have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Ragland moved to 3-10 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak. As for Gadsden City, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.

Ragland was able to grind out a solid win over Gadsden City in their previous meeting back in February of 2019, winning 14-11. Does Ragland have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gadsden City turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
