Basketball Recap: Gates Chili Spartans vs. Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets

The Gates Chili Spartans struggled with offensive rebounds on Wednesday (the Rush-Henrietta Royal Comets had seven more) and sadly the final score reflected it. The game between Gates Chili and the Royal Comets wasn't particularly close, with the Spartans falling 65-49. While losing is never fun, Gates Chili can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 564th, while the Royal Comets are ranked 246th).

Gates Chili's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joey Vigerzi, who scored 20 points. Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gates Chili will square off against the Eagles at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Irondequoit knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past ten matches -- so hopefully the Spartans like a good challenge. As for Rush-Henrietta, they will head out on the road to take on the Titans at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Webster Thomas is coming into the contest on a five-game losing streak.
