The Thornridge Falcons will square off against the Rich Township Raptors at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
On Monday, Thornridge came up short against Kankakee and fell 2-0.
Thornridge was not able to win a set, but it sure wasn't from a lack of trying: every set was decided by three points or less. The final score came out to 25-22, 25-23.
Orlando Gutierrez put forth a good effort for the losing side as he had 17 assists.
Meanwhile, Rich Township had just enough and edged out Kankakee 2-1 on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raptors.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Rich Township got the one that really mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 19-25, 25-8.
Thornridge better focus on containing Allen Moraga and McKinney Chandler as the pair were huge in Rich Township's win. Moraga had 14 digs, while Chandler had three digs and two aces. Those two aces gave Chandler a new career-high.
Rich Township's victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Thornridge, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last seven games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Thornridge has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.4 aces per game. However, it's not like Rich Township struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.8 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
