Baseball Game Preview: La Porte Slicers vs. Warsaw Tigers

The La Porte Slicers will challenge the Warsaw Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

La Porte took a 14-run loss the last time they faced off against Portage, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Slicers never let the Indians get on the board and left with a 2-0 win on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Slicers have posted since April 19th.

Meanwhile, Warsaw had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Cavemen as they made off with a 10-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won 12 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Brock Bowser tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out nine over five innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, Quinton Brock was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Grady Nelson, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Warsaw's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 18-8. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for La Porte, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-15 record this season.
