Football Recap: First Academy Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Bell Creek Academy

First Academy faced Bell Creek Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Eagles lost 22-0 to the Panthers. The matchup was a close 2-0 at the break, but unfortunately for the Eagles it sure didn't stay that way.

First Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Ryder Steinmetz, Rayce Teate, and Ezekiel Lowe picked up one apiece.

Bell Creek Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Euriah Benoit, who picked up 30 receiving yards and two scores. Benoit was even better on defense, making five total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending three passes in addition to snagging an interception which he returned one-yard for a touchdown.

First Academy's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-4. As for Bell Creek Academy, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 5-4.

The two teams are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. First Academy will challenge Hernando Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Lions' defense has only allowed 12.8 points per game this season, so the Eagles' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Bell Creek Academy, they will face off against Foundation Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Bell Creek Academy's defense better be ready for this one: Foundation Christian Academy has averaged an impressive 36 points per game this season.
