Volleyball Recap: Klein Comes Up Short

Klein was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They came up short against the Klein Oak Panthers, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

While Klein was not able to make it on the board, they still kept things close, especially in the second set. The final score came out to 25-15, 25-23, 25-18.

Despite the defeat, Klein saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Violet Lopez had 19 digs and two assists. Lopez is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 17 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Leading Klein Oak to victory were Erin Carpenter and Samantha Kuehnle. Carpenter had 11 digs and six aces, while Kuehnle had 17 assists and eight digs. What's more, Carpenter posted five assists, the most she's had over her last six contests.

Klein's loss dropped their record down to 16-19. As for Klein Oak, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 34-11 record this season.

Klein has already played their next matchup (against Tomball Memorial), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for Klein Oak, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against College Park on the 21st.
