Whitmer hasn't had much luck against Clay recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Whitmer is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.
It was a proper cat-fight when Whitmer took on Bowling Green on Wednesday. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Bobcats 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted since April 20th.

Drew Brindley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on four hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Whitmer's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Mitchell Rose, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Whitmer hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Clay never let their opponents score on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Southview as they made off with a 10-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won eight matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Jayce Derr looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brannan Vargas, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Carter Walendzak also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Clay has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 16 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Whitmer, their record now sits at 12-8.
