Baseball Recap: Lutheran Takes Down Dakota in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Lutheran had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 10-2 margin over the Dakota Indians on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Crusaders.

Jake Guse made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Guse was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Owen Anderson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March. Logan Curington was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Lutheran kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 10-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Lutheran pushed their record up to 17-9 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games. As for Dakota, they moved to 17-13 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Lutheran nor the Indians have any future games scheduled.
