Softball Recap: Penn Cambria Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Penn Cambria's game on Saturday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over the Portage Mustangs. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Panthers as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.

Alyse Rabatin was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Rabatin was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily Farabaugh, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Madelyn Kittell also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.

Penn Cambria always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Portage only posted an OBP of .333.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Portage, they dropped their record down to 0-9 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Penn Cambria didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 16-6 defeat against Westmont Hilltop on the 14th. As for Portage, they have also already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against River Valley on the 14th.
